		<description>There were stories of workers in Germany demanding to be paid more than once per day so they could run to the store to make purchases before the money they earned for their day&#039;s work deflated to the point where they couldn&#039;t buy a meal. Wages were sometimes negotiated on a daily basis, or even more frequently. (Sorry, I don&#039;t have a source, but I remember doing research on this topic for a similar article on my site; though I was a little more playful with it and much lighter on the hard facts. :) ).
