I think that when you have a mind that is highly sensitized towards money management, you'll see the principles of finance in almost anything ;) . I am not a big sports fan, but I can relate to all these lessons. I like #1: take advantage of opportunities as they present themselves. Too often, we let a lot of good opportunities slip by -- many times, because we are uncomfortable with change (perhaps). But in my experience, change has been good and makes you stretch beyond your comfort zone.
