Interesting read.

I can't believe it was that difficult to make money with tobacco even when they had slave labor at the time. Philip Morris must have learnt a thing or two since then.

Financial problems are no longer an issue for our ex-presidents. Clinton did not even go bust with his millions in unpaid legal fees when he left office. How much do these guys make per speech?

probably about $250,000 per speech? A 1 year tour is enough to pay back most debt...talking about the same old crap to audiences who just want to hear "the same old crap" because it is given by presidents!

According to the Washington Post, Bill Clinton earned $31 million in speaking fees between 2001 and 2005. Not too shabby. I don’t believe paid speaking gigs were as lucrative for our earlier presidents.

I love history, especially when it comes to our presidents. I've heard about Jefferson's money woes before. Maybe JibJab needs to do a satire on the dead presidents and their debt, tying it into where our American values come from and the idea of carrying a lot of debt. That would be hilarious.

That would be hilarious, Little House. While they're at it, maybe they can include a section in the satire on Congress's predilection for spending money it doesn't have either! :-)
